Burger King of New England and Jimmy Fund
Offer A Chance for KidsSM Sweepstakes & Promotional
Campaign to Benefit Cancer Research and Treatment
Burger King® restaurants throughout New England are asking customers to take A Chance for Kids by making a gift to the Jimmy Fund. From Aug. 1 through Sept. 3, more than 300 Burger King restaurants will be asking customers to contribute $1 to the Jimmy Fund and help fight cancer. In return the customer will receive a scratch card. Every card is guaranteed to be a winner. Since 2000, A Chance for Kids has raised more than $850,000; and the goal for this year is to collect $1 million.
"Burger King's A Chance for Kids program gives individuals a way to make a meaningful contribution to our region's leading cancer research and treatment center," says Larry Kohler, president of Mastoran Corporation, a Burger King Franchise. "Burger King is pleased to be a catalyst for helping raise money and awareness for the Jimmy Fund."
"We are thrilled about Burger King of New England's commitment to help fight pediatric cancer through the Jimmy Fund and the tremendous growth of the A Chance for Kids Program over the past two years," says Mike Andrews, chairman of the Jimmy Fund. "This is a cause that touches so many of their customers and we are proud to have them join us in our quest to eradicate this terrible disease."
A compelling element of the A Chance for Kids campaign is the participation of youthful spokespatients, youngsters from the region who are being treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Nicknamed the "Small Fries™ of New England", Adams Fenelon, Everett, Mass.; Jillian Riley Doroni, Weymouth, Mass.; Lawrence Williams, Derry, N.H.; Adam D. Townsend, Yarmouth, Maine; and Lindsay Temple, Wethersfield, Conn., represent all pediatric cancer patients. Small Fries will appear on point-of-purchase materials and are an integral part of the overall campaign.
Prizes in the guaranteed-to-win A Chance for Kids program include Burger King products with a value of at least $1, as well as merchandise prizes such as $25 HomeGoods® gift certificates, RollerCoaster Tycoon® CD ROMs, Six Flags New England passes and a grand prize of Hyundai 2003 Tiburon.
The Jimmy Fund supports the fight against cancer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. Since 1948, the generosity of millions has helped the Jimmy Fund save lives by furthering cancer research and care at Dana-Farber.
