Make baseball history with WEEI and the Boston Red Sox, Aug. 23

Celebrate 50 years of cancer research and care support by the Red Sox organization and the 35th anniversary of "Impossible Dream Team" with past and present players

Calling all Boston Red Sox fans. WEEI, 850 AM, and the Boston Red Sox are giving New England baseball fans a chance to become a part of baseball history on Friday, Aug. 23, and to benefit the Red Sox' official charity, the Jimmy Fund, at the same time.

Three special events and a live radiothon have been scheduled to both kick off the 50-year anniversary celebration of the extraordinary Boston Red Sox-Jimmy Fund connection, and remember the exciting times during the summer of '67, the year of the "Impossible Dream Team."

Limited seating is available at a special "Breakfast with the Bosses" from 8 to 9:30 a.m. with the new Red Sox owners, manager, and coaches.

A lunch from noon to 2:30 p.m. "With the Boys" will feature a panel discussion with current Red Sox players and WEEI personalities Dale Arnold, Bob Neumeier, Joe Castiglione, and Jerry Trupiano. The event will include an "insider's" tour of historic Fenway Park and a chance to hobnob with this year's players.

From 4:30 to 6 p.m., baseball aficionados will have the chance to enjoy cocktails "With the Heroes" and celebrate 1967 with more than 20 members of the team that voted the Jimmy Fund a full share of their World Series earnings. Those attending this event will also be treated to tickets to that evening's game with the Anaheim Angels and get to enjoy an on-field celebration of the team's 1967 exploits.

Admission to these once-in-a-lifetime events is $100 for the breakfast, $250 for the lunch, or $250 for the cocktail get-together, with all proceeds going to the Jimmy Fund. To get a total baseball immersion, sign up for the "Triple Play" for $500 and attend all events, right through that night's game.

Tune into WEEI, 850 AM, for more details or visit the Jimmy Fund's Web site at www.jimmyfund.org. Those interested in attending may call Jenn O'Hare at (617) 632-3861 to purchase tickets.

Whether you attend the day's events or not, be sure to tune into WEEI on Friday, Aug. 23, from 6 a.m. to midnight or visit the station's Fenway Park (Lansdowne Street) studio for the celebrity-packed radiothon/party to raise funds for the Jimmy Fund. Announcers will be interviewing past and present sports stars, Hollywood celebrities like Susan Sarandon and Anthony Clark, plus some other important, but lesser known "celebrities" — Jimmy Fund Clinic patients and the doctors and nurses who treat them and search for cures.

Broadcast of the 7 p.m. game with the Anaheim Angels and an on-field celebration of the 1967 team and the Jimmy Fund will cap off the day.

Listeners will be encouraged to call Toll-Free 1-877-738-1234 or visit www.jimmyfund.org throughout the day and join the Boston Red Sox and the '67 Dream Team in supporting the Jimmy Fund. Celebrities and past and present players will be volunteering to answer phones at various times during the broadcast and the event will also include an online auction of sport memorabilia, trips, and more.
