Community Newspaper Co. supports the Jimmy
Fund
Community Newspaper Company (CNC) has created a print advertising campaign for the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk. More than 8,000 walkers are expected to take to the renowned Boston Marathon® course covering the full 26.2 miles, or 13.1- or 3-mile routes on Walk day, Sunday, Sept. 29.
"We are very pleased to have Community Newspapers provide us with a multi-week advertising campaign for the Walk," says Emily Quinn, director of the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk which is presented by MFS Investment Management®. "Their creative team's efforts, combined with their vast readership, will help us reach our goal of raising more than $4.5 million on September 29."
Herald Media Inc. is the parent company of Community Newspaper Company and the Boston Herald. The company publishes 87 weekly newspapers and a network of five daily newspapers – the Boston Herald, the MetroWest Daily News, the Neponset Daily News, the Daily News Tribune, and the Milford Daily News.
The advertising campaign that CNC's in-house marketing department has created for the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk consists of a series of creative treatments that highlight the various ways that walkers and the community can become involved in this major, grassroots event. The campaign's four primary themes will each be featured for multiple weeks: Be a Hero® (become a walker), Recruit a Team, Support a Walker and be a Pacesetter (commit to $750 or more in contributions).
"We are proud to be able to put our creative team to work on such a rewarding project and to help the Jimmy Fund maximize the results of the walk," said Robin Lorenzen, CNC vice president of marketing and public relations.
Since 1948, hundreds of events, coupled with the generosity of millions of people, have helped the Jimmy Fund save countless lives by furthering cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
"CNC has created advertising that is a powerful positive force for the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk," says Emily Quinn. "It is attracting more walkers, assisting the thousands of walkers who are out collecting gifts in Eastern Massachusetts, and most importantly, helping Dana-Farber Cancer Institute continue to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of cancer patients here and around the world."
