HomeGoods' 'heroes' support the Jimmy Fund

Nationwide campaign raises more than $103,000 for cancer research fund

More than 103,000 HomeGoods customers were "heroes" when they shopped throughout September at any of the company's 85 off-price home fashion stores located throughout the country.

In a pin-up campaign, HomeGoods offered its customers a chance to buy "I'm a Hero" cards for $1, which were proudly displayed in participating stores after customers personalized them with their name or message. A total of $103,797 was raised with all proceeds benefiting the Jimmy Fund.

Jimmy Fund supporters help to raise the chances of survival for children and adults with cancer around the world. Since 1948, the generosity of millions of people has helped the Jimmy Fund save lives by furthering cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

"By promoting this campaign, HomeGoods helps the Jimmy Fund to reach out to a much wider audience in a very cost-effective manner," said Mike Andrews, Jimmy Fund chairman. "The Jimmy Fund also thanks the HomeGoods customers across the country who are helping to make a big difference in the fight against cancer by giving that $1 contribution."

The campaign was the second by HomeGoods to benefit the Jimmy Fund. With last year's amount raised of $51,000, the total contributed to the Jimmy Fund by the promotion is over $154,000.

"HomeGoods is very pleased to be able to support for the second year in a row, the Jimmy Fund and cancer research," explained Jerry Rossi, HomeGoods president. "We are also very excited that our customers share the same vision when it comes to supporting such a worthy cause. As a result, they have helped us to literally double the amount of money that was raised last year."

HomeGoods, which is based in Framingham, Mass., offers the largest selection of brand name home fashions, accessories, and gifts, for every room of the home at prices that are 20 — 60 percent less than finer catalog, specialty, and department store regular prices, every day.
