Northern Trust to Present First Jimmy Fund Regatta, June 4 – 5

Newport's newest sailing event, the Jimmy Fund Regatta will be presented by Northern Trust. The event will be held on June 4 and 5.

Serious but enjoyable boating competition will be showcased during the sailing of the Jimmy Fund Regatta. The two-day event, managed by Sail Newport, will feature more than 100 boats, from 25-footers and up, all sailing to benefit cancer research and care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund.

"We are proud to be the presenting sponsor of the inaugural Jimmy Fund Regatta," said Alison Winter, president and CEO, Personal Financial Services, Northern Trust-Northeast Region. "Northern Trust has a long tradition of supporting the communities in which we do business and we are delighted to expand our support of Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund."

In addition to a series of races for a variety of classes over the two days and a "Sail for Jimmy" race for all classes around Conanicut Island in Narragansett Bay, the regatta will host post-sail parties and a gala dinner.

"The Jimmy Fund Regatta," added Winter, "is sure to be a key event on the East Coast racing circuit, and we are happy to be a part of its success."

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a world-renowned pioneer in discovering and developing innovative, effective cancer therapies for adults and children. Since 1948, the Jimmy Fund's supporters have helped Dana-Farber to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.
